Choosing a college is tough. It is a complicated and overwhelming choice. It is also a choice that has a massive impact on a students future. A lot of emphases is put on the college APPLICATION process. Deadlines. Letters of References. Financial Aid. College Essays. Yes, those are important, but if you do not choose the right college for you, then what does the rest of it matter. If you are not taking the time to discover what type of environment and situations you need to succeed, then you may end up spending all that time and money applying to colleges that will do nothing to help you succeed in the real world. At the end of the day, it is about choosing a college that fits your needs as a person.
In this course, we will walk through the entire college SELECTION process to ensure you choose the college that will help you achieve your goals, create the best version of yourself as possible, and give you the best possible chance to succeed when you enter the real world. This course will help you discover your passion and start your path to that ideal career. What I mean by that is that together, we are going to figure out what career path is going to align with your core values and desires. We are also going to figure out what type of learning environment you as the unique person you need to succeed. Lastly, we are going to dive headfirst into the college research and campus visiting phase. We are going to talk about what to look out for, what questions to ask, and most importantly, “What makes that college worth it”? Also, since we are on the topic of money, we are going to spend some time talking about students loans, so you feel comfortable making a smart, educated, choose for yourself and your financial future.
Why This Course?
When I started my journey and mission of inspiring students to get serious about preparing for the real world, I started my interviewing, talking to, about surveying as many college graduates as I could. The purpose of the exercise was to learn what they regret when it comes to their time as a student. What mistakes made the opportunities they missed, and things they wish they could do differently. One of the most common topics was how they went about choosing a college. They did not take the time to do the very things I talk about in this course. They did not take the time to do the proper research, ask the right questions, make their self-discovery, and find the college that best fit their needs. This course is a collection of graduate advice, pearls of wisdom, stern warnings, and honest truths about the importance of choosing the right college and preparing for the real world that awaits you.

Head Teacher - Kyle Grappone
Kyle Grappone is a youth speaker and published author whose mission is to prepare today's students for the real world. After working in the corporate world for nearly ten years, Kyle noticed that the majority of the college grads he was working with seemed to dislike their jobs and worse, was dissatisfied with the type of person they had become and they life they had created for themselves.
When he dug deeper, he discovered that the graduates felt this way because they did not know what was coming next in life. They did not plan for the future or research their options. Instead, they adopted a "figure it out later attitude," and when later arrived, they were thrown into a world they knew nothing about, took a job they knew nothing about, and ended up living a life they never intended on living.
The regrets of past graduates, including himself, is what fuels his mission today. His goal is to prepare students for the next steps in their lives including college and entering the workforce, becoming an adult, and the real world that awaits them. He does this by helping them to understand what the real world is like and what actionable steps they can take to create a career and life they will enjoy living.
